The Nutritional Relationships of Manganese

Manganese is distributed in tissues throughout the body. The highest concentrations are found in the liver, thyroid, pituitary, pancreas, kidneys and bone. The total manganese content of a 70kg man is approximately 12-20 mg. A daily requirement for manganese has not been established: however, it appears that a minimum intake of 2.5 to 7 mg per day meets human needs.
